About Us
St John's is a small caring school. The students are our focus. The most important thing is that they feel good about themselves, who they are and what they can achieve. The school is well resourced. The Board of Trustees chose to employ more staff than the school is entitled to, to ensure the girls get the best possible education. This includes a part time professional dance teacher, a science teacher, Christian Education teachers and two classroom teachers. Classes are small so individual needs are well catered for. Learning support is available for those who need it and there are many extension programmes. The school has high expectations for academic achievement as well as for all other areas. The school enjoys strong community support. An active Parents' Association is involved in fundraising for those extra things. An enrolment scheme is in place to avoid overcrowding. There is a waiting list especially at the new entrant level. The girls receive a rounded education with a focus on numeracy and literacy. There is a strong emphasis on environmental issues and the "Arts". St John's provides an education which develops all aspects of personality. A simple set of values underpins everything we do at St John's, inside and outside of the classroom. The goal is excellence in all endeavors. Respect for self and others and responsibility for one's own actions are encouraged. Honesty, compassion, integrity and fairness are valued along with cooperation, tolerance, loyalty, support and consideration. The display of these values is rewarded in numerous ways. A high standard of personal conduct is expected. |
